i’ve since built a beautiful photography office/studio onto my home, doubled my revenue from 2012, become a single mom working full time, and formed an incredible community of like-minded local female photographers in the DC ‘burbs. it was a good year in all. lots of trial and error mixed with a healthy dose of determination and persistence. starting a mentoring/teaching branch of my business this year allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone, and the results were gratifying beyond expectation. when i see that light bulb go off for the first time in a student’s eyes, or the excitement about implementing a new business goal, the positive energy is infectious. i read a quote recently that i remind myself when i’m at any crossroad: “if you’re not doing things that scare you, you’re not growing.” – Anna Goldstein
coming to the 2013 IHF conference in columbus, OH as a teacher was a huge honor. i led a two-part newborn workshop during the main conference day, and though there were technical hiccups, i received amazing feedback. and we captured some pretty adorable images of mama and her gorgeous babe. the workshops i was able to attend were phenom. among the brilliant women i learned from were the savvy hillary of one for the wall, spunky jennifer of jelly bean pictures, the beautiful jean smith AND the one and ONLY tamara lackey.
the group of girls that comprise the i heart faces community is truly beautiful (inside and out). so much love, support and encouragement. i don’t think any girl left the lodge last weekend feeling anything but uplifted and full of passion. needless to say, i can’t wait for next year. because it’s good for my business, and fabulous for my soul. 🙂
…and we tore it up on the dance floor 😉
Thank you so much for joining us at the conference again and sharing your time as an attendee and teacher. I know that baby's mama is going to adore the images you captured of her little guy. Just beautiful!
Love it, fabulous mama! Had so much fun with you. Maybe next year I can actually partake in the "partying" aspect! Until then… xox
