When this couple emailed me last month that they had just had a baby, I was absolutely thrilled to take their newborn portraits! I had done a headshot session for them a little over a year ago in their home, and I knew this location would make a stunning backdrop for their first family portraits as well. All that gorgeous natural light beaming in, not to mention the most amazing rustic hardwood flooring. This sweet baby boy turned 11 days old when we took these portraits, which is at the tail end of the “ideal” time for newborn photos. For all of you out there who are pondering a newborn session, it’s definitely best to get it on the books before baby arrives! I just happened to have a last minute opening for this awesome family, so it worked out well in this instance. We captured some beautiful shots of this adorable guy with his eyes open and then we cranked the heat and white noise so he’d pass out and let us pose him in all of those adorable ways only a brand new baby can curl into. Doesn’t he have the most beautiful porcelain baby skin? I look forward to photographing this family’s milestones as this cute guy grows up!
