This adorable family session took place on a beautiful 80 degree day in late April at Swain’s Lock in Potomac, MD. Photographing families at this location near the Potomac River allows the use of various gorgeous undisturbed natural backdrops. It’s usually quiet here on a weekday evening, which is always nice when I need to photograph young children in various poses and capture beautiful candid moments as well. This Gaithersburg, MD family did a great job following my general guideline to select 2-3 complementary colors and weave them throughout their outfits. I have found over the years that informing and guiding families how to dress for their portrait session helps tremendously in producing images that they love and that I am happy with as well!
